StandOut has been very supportive throughout the entire application process. Apart from the unique experience of working in a different cultural setting, I believe it was meeting other like-minded interns from around the world that made it special. One of the highlights for me was the visit to the trading floor of CLSA’s headquarters. Take every opportunity to socialize and network in Hong Kong, it is a great place to establish contacts. Samantha Cornelius is based in Hong Kong and runs the operational side of the business, including everything from liaising with host companies to arranging accommodation and events for interns. Hong Kong can offer the best of both worlds - it is an international city AND it is a booming Asian economy. This means that anyone can feel at home in Hong Kong and it is a great place to start a career. The Hong Kong Chinese have a strong and loyal work ethic and therefore Hong Kong is renowned for being a place where people work hard and are valued for their commitment. Chinese skills (Mandarin or Cantonese) are not usually required as most of our internship positions are in English-speaking offices.

"StandOut was good value for money compared to other similar programmes, however the experience overall was not cheap. The work I chose to do was unpaid, but with a bonus towards transport costs, I would have preferred to do paid work but I appreciate paid placements in the events industry are extremely hard to come by."
