The Chamber offers internships year-round in a variety of areas, including:
- Communications & Events: Interns assist in producing the Chamber's award-winning bimonthly magazine, managing electronic communications, and handling media and public relations for news and events. They also contribute to the planning and execution of events ranging from intimate networking breakfasts to the Annual Dinner, which draws over 1,000 attendees.
- Policy: Policy interns gain firsthand experience in legislative advocacy by tracking bills, performing research, and attending hearings at Legislative Hall. This provides a rare opportunity to see how policy is shaped and passed in Delaware, interacting with state legislators and lobbyists. This internship is particularly well-suited for students in their junior or senior year seeking political science or legislative experience.
- Photography: Photography interns capture high-quality images for use in print, online, and across social media platforms. Their work helps bring articles to life in the Chamber's bimonthly magazine and documents a wide variety of events, from intimate networking gatherings to large-scale conferences.
While these internships are unpaid, the Chamber collaborates with colleges and universities to provide academic credit and reimburses parking costs.
Delaware Department of State Internship Program
The Delaware Department of State’s Internship Program offers an exciting opportunity for college students and recent graduates to gain experience in a professional setting, learn more about the policy-making process, and experience state politics at work. Each term is hosted in person at the Dover office (401 Federal Street, Dover, Delaware). Interns work closely with policy staff to track Department of State legislation, perform research, draft briefing memos, and attend hearings at Legislative Hall. They also attend outreach and community events to spread information and resources about the Department of State and its various divisions.

Delaware State Parks Internship Program
The Delaware State Parks Internship Program offers qualified students and career-focused graduates the chance to apply learned theory and experience to practical situations and observe an organization firsthand. This program is a training program that provides practical work experience and valuable training in the many and varied careers in the state park system. Interns apply for a specific position and are assigned to a specific site with a field expert who will mentor and supervise the intern’s activities.
Interns are considered to be volunteers, and are not employees of the State of Delaware. While positions are unpaid, interns may elect to receive a stipend to help cover expenses incurred during their volunteer intern service. Some housing is available, at no fee, for interns providing full-time hours (30 or more per week). If selected for housing, in most cases the intern should expect to share a room with other interns in a Division Intern house, duplex or dorm facility. The facilities are furnished and include kitchen, housewares, and laundry. Utilities are included.
Probation Office for the District of Delaware Internship Program
The Probation Office for the District of Delaware Internship Program is committed to training and preparing highly qualified students through exposure and hands-on experience. An internship offers students an opportunity to observe and learn while contributing to the agency. Internships are available, year-round, based out of our Wilmington office located at 824 N. A representative from our Internship Program will contact you following the receipt of your full application packet. We will then schedule an in-person interview with you at our Wilmington office.

Employment while attending college provides a unique opportunity for students to bring together corporate experience and business concepts. Internships and Cooperative Education Programs not only provide exposure to the workplace while attending college, they can also improve the participants’ chances for permanent employment. College of Business majors are encouraged to pursue internship opportunities as early as possible, preferably at the beginning of the sophomore year. The Advisement Center and the Department Chairpersons assist students in their internship search strategies. Students in search of internships may seek assistance from the COB Advisement Center (COBAC). COBAC maintains a log of various internship programs and opportunities offered by an array of businesses. Moreover, internship information from the University’s Office of Career Services is filtered through the Advisement Center.
