Theology: This course is not just an exercise of the mind as relating to truths of God, it is to be a Godward compelling force taught and lived among learners of the Lord Jesus Christ as members of His Church and Body. It is to be the determinate safe-guard for belief and practice of the believer. From the embryonic Church in Acts, sound doctrine has been taught, studied…and defended. This course, an orderly and systematic study of God and His truth, will be presentation of theology that is in keeping with the Pentecostal community of faith.
Old Testament Survey: As the class title informs, herein students will survey the Old Testament-both its worlds and words. As for its “worlds,” this course will give special attention to biblical history, in the process of which we will consider various social pressures, which had a direct effect on Israel and Judah, and factored into the various prophetic exhortations given by the prophets, which were then recorded and preserved in the Old Testament corpus. As for the Old Testament’s “words,” students will become better acquainted with the Pentateuch, historical literature, wisdom literature, the writings of the prophets, some of their Christological significance and more.
New Testament Overview: This course will focus on a general overview of the New Testament canon. Our textbook study will provide insights as to how the political, religious and social elements in a first century context inform the NT writings, as well as dealing with issues of authorship, dating, and book outlines.
The Life and Teachings of Christ: The Life and Teachings of Christ is a journey through the Gospel of Mark that unpacks the significance of this man called Jesus, the message that he preached, and what it all means for humanity.
Principles of Faith: A study of the Principles of Faith based on the Word of God.
Prayer: The privilege of Prayer based on the principles of the Word of God is the foundation of our spiritual life. The Bible tells us “without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6) “for he that cometh to him must believe…” The Prayer of Faith brings the reality of the spirit realm into our everyday experience. The disciples asked Jesus, “What must we do to work the works of God?” and Jesus replied, “This is the work of God, that you believe…” (John 6:29). By Prayer and the Word of God we grow in knowledge and revelation of Him (Ephesians 1:18). And we are kept from temptation as we “watch and pray.” The Word alone without Prayer puffs up with knowledge and pride, and leads to dogmatic contention, not being balanced by love.
The Holy Spirit: This course presents a study exhaustivo of the person of the Espíritu Santo. We will see closely his nature and work so much in the Old Testament as in the New Testament. We will explore deeply the baptism of the Espíritu Santo and his effects in the Primitive Church and as He still works today in day. Likewise, we will study about the fruit and the gifts of the Espíritu Santo. Evangelism: This course of evangelism teaches to the students tools of evangelism to reach to the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, through the power of the Espíritu Santo. The purpose of this class is to facilitate to each student, a platform in where could experience of a way personal the power of the evangelization. Each student will have the opportunity of no soley know, but also live the experienca of the fulfillment of the big commission as a style of life.
Biblical Interpretation: This course is designed to equip students read and study the Bible with fuller understanding by teaching basics of good interpretation for the various types of literature types that make up the Bible. We will discover the significance of the occasional document (epistle writings) and how to apply its principles to everyday life, now. Students will begin to understand Bible interpretation via original language study and application. The student will come away with a greater understanding and appreciation of the God inspired; God breathed Word, and how to use study and application to help others.
The Book of Proverbs: The Book of Proverbs is a journey through this book of the Bible that teaches all about how applying godly wisdom will help us to be successful in every area of our lives. Each category of Biblical wisdom will be studied and applied to how we live in relationship to God, to ourselves, and to others.
1 & 2 Peter: I Peter addresses Christian living in the midst of persecution. His exhortations of faithful living provide the backdrop for the reason of the hope that is within Christians; we have a heavenly inheritance. We will see how developing patience during unjust suffering equips the believer to become a redeeming force in the world in spite of suffering. II Peter is a letter that gives instruction and exhortation as Peter is nearing the end of his life. Whereas I Peter encourages Christians to maintain their hope in the midst of persecution, II Peter warns Christians against false teachers within their own fellowship who would try to lead them away from Christ and into apostasy. Fidelity to the apostolic teaching is the main theme because heretical teachers are within and without the church.
The Prison Epistles: The Prison Epistles will explore the four books written by Paul while in prison in Rome: Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon.
1 Corinthians: The Apostle Paul wrote as a pastor to the saints in Corinth. The church was a focal point for trade, the capital of the province of Achaia, and home of the Roman proconsul. Corinth was not only a famous city of culture and trade; it was a city of sin, known for its problems and shortcomings. In Corinth, we get a realistic view of the early church, and situations that prevail in the church today. Paul dealt head-on with heresies and practices of vulgarity and immorality, yet with fatherly affection and instruction for this church that he founded during an 18-month stay while on his second missionary journey.
Joshua & Judges: This course is an inductive study (a method used consisting of three skills: observation, interpretation and implementation) of the books of Joshua and Judges. We will look into the historical/background setting and the main messages embedded in each book.
Acts: This course will be a general overview of the Book of Acts, documenting the power of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the Early Church.
Psalms: The course will examine the basic structure of the Book of Psalms, and look at the different types of psalms both grammatically and spiritually.
Cultivating a Heart for Missions: Cultivating a Heart for Missions helps us all lean into God’s heart and love for the nations. We will dive into the scriptures from Genesis to Revelation and see definitively that God’s people are called to get out of our comfort zones and go to the lost and dying in this world with the specific mission to share the hope we have in Jesus Christ!
Deliverance: In this life transforming class, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of receiving and ministering deliverance through the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit. The spiritual roots of some psychological, emotional, and physical issues will be discussed, as well as related natural causes and predispositions. In addition to contemporary Christian ministry tools, the role of prayer and the prophetic in resolving complex emotional and psychological issues will be explored both theoretically and practically.
John's Gospel: Someone said, the Gospel of John is both shallow enough for a child to wade in and deep enough for an elephant to swim in. John’s Gospel presents themes of light and life, truth and belief, lifting up and glory. These themes all introduce the hearer to Jesus Christ. This course assesses these themes within the Book of Signs and the Book of Glory in John’s Gospel.
Christian Apologetics: Christian apologetics is the study of how to defend the Christian faith. All worldviews are expressions of faith; therefore, the differences in the various worldviews are due to different theologies. The assumptions of Christianity are biblically based and can be rationally defended. The current understanding of Christian apologetics is based on biblical and philosophical studies conducted over two millennia of church history. The goal of this course is to demonstrate the superiority of a Christian worldview over all other competing worldviews.
Galatians: Galatians is considered by many scholars to be Paul’s first extant correspondence to one of his churches. While there is debate over the former claim it is without dispute that Galatians is one of Paul’s earliest writings. risen Christ and his indwelling Spirit. The incarnation and resurrection of Jesus has resulted in changes on every level of existence and Paul holds no punches in articulating these points.
Hermeneutics: This course is an introduction to the biblical, contextual and cultural analysis of biblical hermeneutics with a focus on the “Spirit” of hermeneutics that recognizes the essential role the Holy Spirit plays in biblical interpretation.
Personal Financial Management: This course aims to equip students with essential personal financial management skills grounded in biblical principles. Key topics covered will include an overview of the financial planning process, goal-setting, cash flow management, financial statements, income taxes, banking, credit and debt, investing, renting, home buying, and decision-making strategies.
Essential Theological Topics: Using both Old Testament and New Testament Scripture we will explore and lay a foundation of the Ten Essential Theological and doctrinal topics that every ministerial student and Bible scholar should know and adhere to in Christian Life, Studying God’s Word, and Teaching God’s Word!
The Nation of Israel: This course will provide students with information from Dr. Dennis Lindsay’s personal notes on the nation of Israel. He has journeyed to Israel over thirty times to experience its wonderful sights, having learned many things during his travels to the Holy Land.
Walking Like Jesus: This course is for the enrichment and development of spiritual leaders. It provides a tool to learn more about Jesus and how He lived continually demonstrating the power of the Holy Spirit in everyday life. He was empowered by the Holy Spirit to meet the needs of those He encountered as He walked the earth.
Nehemiah: An intensive investigation of the book of Nehemiah, emphasizing the truth that rebuilding the Law of God in the hearts of the people paralleled the actual rebuilding of a wall of stone around the nation’s capital city.
Facing the Hardships of Ministry: Facing the Hardships of Ministry is a class that discusses the practical aspects of ministry. It will touch on some foundational building blocks for those that are entering ministry.
Youth Ministry: This course will be focused on teaching the student the most important tools to effectively communicate biblical truths in engaging ways to today’s culture.
