Navigating the LISD Student Portal: A Comprehensive Guide

Leander Independent School District (LISD) provides a robust online ecosystem designed to support students, parents, and educators. This article offers a detailed overview of the key features and resources available through the LISD student portal, empowering users to navigate the system effectively and maximize its benefits.

Home Access Center (HAC): Your Central Hub for Student Information

The Home Access Center (HAC) serves as a central online tool for families to access helpful student information. It is designed to support and guide their children through the educational process. Primary Guardians can access enrollment verification forms through their HAC account. Specifically, Returning Student Verification for students who were enrolled for the 2024-25 school year is now open for the 2025-26 school year. If additional parents/guardians need access, contacting your campus registrar is the way to go.

Accessing HAC

Home Access Center Version 3.1 requires Internet Explorer Version 9, 10 or 11, Chrome, Firefox or Safari browsers.

Navigating HAC's Main Pages

The menu options in the Home Access Center banner provide access to HAC’s main pages. Clicking an icon displays a page with related tabs, each of which is a self-contained page of information on your student. For example, the Grades option displays a page with tabs on Interim Progress Reports (IPR), Report Cards, and other subjects associated with grading. Clicking a tab displays the page indicated. Most HAC pages also include links that when clicked, display a window with additional details.

Key Features of HAC

  • Week View: Displays a student’s attendance, scheduling, and grades for the current week. Previous and future weeks can also be displayed.
  • Calendar: Displays a month-view of the student’s attendance, scheduling, and grades. Checkboxes are provided for configuring the type of information that displays, while buttons are included for changing the calendar to a daily or week view.
  • Month View: Displays a month-view of the student’s attendance that can be toggled to access all months within the current school year. A color legend identifies the type of attendance displayed.
  • Classes: Displays course assignments, including the dates assigned, due dates, categories, potential points, and scores for the Gradebook assignments available in a class. When assignments are ordered by class, class average information is shown below the student’s list of assignments. Teachers can select whether an assignment and its score should be published for HAC. However, unpublished assignments may be included in the student’s averages for a course.
  • Schedule: Displays the student’s schedule for the entire year. Dropped courses may also be displayed. You can also select to display the list of requests for the next school year in a separate section at the bottom of the page.
  • Interim Progress Report: Displays the student’s most recent interim progress report, including courses, marks, and comments for an Interim Progress Report (IPR) run based on information in the IPR data warehouse. If comments were entered for the student, a comment legend displays below the course information.
  • Report Cards: Displays information from the student’s most recent report card run.

Mobile Access with eSchoolPLUS Family App

For an optimized viewing experience on your mobile device, check out the mobile Home Access Center app - eSchoolPLUS Family! The first time you open the app, you will be asked for your district. Search for and select Leander ISD. If you are using the mobile application and are interested in looking at detailed grade information, please make sure you are looking under the Classwork icon. Once in the Classwork area, you will need to scroll left and right by week to see specific grade details. Also, please remember that teachers have the ability in the grade book to weigh assignments differently depending on the assignment category and tasks.

Grade Book Alerts

eSchoolPLUS triggers grade alerts off the due date of the assignment, not the grade itself. If a teacher enters a grade within two days of the due date, a corresponding grade alert is sent to parents. If a grade is entered beyond the due date, an alert would not be sent.

Security and Responsibility

Parents/guardians and students have a responsibility to ensure that the username and password that is provided for accessing the Home Access Center is kept secure at all times. Students should not share their username or password with other students. If a student or parent/guardian believes that their password may have been compromised, the student or parent/guardian is responsible for changing their password.

KHub: Your Centralized Knowledge Base

The Knowledge Hub - or KHub for short - was created with the intention of connecting the LISD community to accurate and relevant information to help everyone - including staff, students and their families - succeed in their district roles. This knowledge base makes it easy to find relevant LISD resources in a central location no matter where you are thanks to the services provided by Helpjuice.

How KHub Works

KHub’s Google-like search engine makes finding information quick and easy. Every typed element of each KHub article is searchable and will help connect you to the top results most relevant to your search.

Because KHub organizes students and staff into different user groups based on their campus level and district role, access for each article is intentionally assigned to make sure everyone can see the information specifically curated for them. Even parents can see public-facing articles! Not only does this organizational system help intuitively filter out articles that do not relate to you - it also plays an important role in keeping sensitive information safe and secure.

While the Technology department has successfully provided other helpful collections of technical resources, the Knowledge Hub provides a more inclusive platform that supports a greater variety of information from even more departments district-wide. As we continue to embody Dr. Danene Boudreaux’s vision of being a destination district, KHub will continue to evolve to meet the needs of our growing community.

LaunchPad: A One-Stop Shop for Digital Resources

LaunchPad is designed to be a one-stop shop for all approved LISD digital resources. Some of the programs within LaunchPad will also allow access directly into programs simplifying the login process. LaunchPad is for use by teachers and students at this time. We will be adding additional staff functionality in the near future.

Key Features of LaunchPad

LaunchPad is designed to provide resources based on grade level and course. Student data privacy and safety is critical as we move resources into this new platform. Each program is undergoing security reviews and companies are working to sign a data-sharing agreement to ensure they are adhering to the appropriate data standards.

Requesting Digital Resources

LISD employees may submit a request through the Digital Resource Request Process. If you are not an employee, please ask one to sponsor your request. This process ensures resources meet our data and privacy policy standards, align with district curriculum, and are compatible within our technology environment.

Getting Help with LaunchPad

If you are in LaunchPad and need help, please click on the ? mark in the top right-hand corner and select contact support.

Apple App Store on District iPads

The guidelines for which apps can be listed in the Apple App Store for students in secondary grade levels are more flexible than those in elementary school. Apple App Store is available on district iPads in secondary grade levels. Students can download apps with an Apple ID.

Unapproved Apps and Restrictions

There are some apps that LISD deems inappropriate. While LISD deems those apps inappropriate, there is currently no technical mechanism for blocking the installation of these apps on a secondary student's device. To verify this information, please feel free to visit this link.

Although students can still download apps, the hiding feature will not allow them to see or use any unapproved app that has been hidden. The iPad will need to be on iOS version 9.3 or greater for the hiding feature to function.

Parental Controls and Responsibilities

Please partner with LISD and play an active role in monitoring the apps installed on your student's device. As a parent, you have ultimate control of your student's device. Please refer to this link from Apple regarding setting parental controls.

Consequences of Using Unapproved Apps

Unapproved apps are not allowed and could result in disciplinary action. Please refer to the list of all apps that have been unapproved by LISD. The original Google Sheet can be accessed here.

LISD has restrictions in place that prevent downloading any 17+ apps on district-issued iPads.

LISD Messaging System

Leander ISD updated its messaging system to give families more flexibility in setting their contact preferences and view all district, campus, and teacher communications for each of their students in one convenient place.
