Navigating Learning Resources at UAB Campus
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is committed to providing a rich learning environment for its students, faculty, and staff. To achieve this, UAB offers a wide array of learning resources, from physical spaces designed for collaboration to technological support systems and instructional design assistance. This article explores the different facets of UAB's campus learning resources, focusing on the Learning Resource Center (LRC) and the Campus Learning System.
The Learning Resource Center: A Hub for Growth and Success
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) plays a pivotal role in empowering the UAB community. The LRC is dedicated to empowering students, faculty, and staff by providing technology support and solutions. It is committed to fostering an environment of growth and success. The primary goal is to increase the efficiency of use of resources that support your learning by distributing and sharing our resources to the fullest extent possible.
Location and Features
The Learning Resource Center is located at 1714 9th Avenue South. The LRC offers rooms, resources, and a highly trained support staff to serve your needs. Conveniently located just past the entrance facing University Boulevard, the Commons Area features lounge spaces and communal tables perfect for studying and group collaboration.
Spaces for Collaboration and Learning
The LRC offers classroom space, meeting rooms, and testing labs for all School of Health Professions’ faculty, staff, and students. Through UAB’s 25live online booking system, you can reserve spaces across multiple locations, including the Center for Biophysical Sciences and Engineering (CBSE), the Learning Resource Center (LRC), Lister Hill Library (LHL), the School of Health Professions Building (SHPB), and the Webb Building (WEBB). These rooms can accommodate groups ranging from 10 to 208 individuals. Each testing lab is equipped with an instructor workstation, an overhead projector and screen, a portable whiteboard, and a wireless lavaliere microphone.
Instructional Design & Support: Enhancing the Learning Experience
The Instructional Design & Support team at UAB works directly with SHP faculty and instructors to assess and address specific needs of each learning experience. They work on course design, delivery, strategies, methods and more for on-site, online, and blended course formats.
