Navigating the UCF Transcript Request Process: A Comprehensive Guide

Transcripts play a vital role in the overall assessment of your application, whether you're applying for undergraduate programs, graduate studies, or even transferring to another institution. Keeping up with each piece of the application can be challenging, and transcripts are sometimes overlooked. This guide provides a comprehensive overview of the UCF transcript request process to ensure your application is complete.

Understanding the Importance of Transcripts

Transcripts are official records of your academic history, including courses taken, grades earned, and degrees conferred. They are crucial for demonstrating your academic achievements and qualifications to potential employers, graduate schools, and other institutions.

Official vs. Unofficial Transcripts

It's important to understand the difference between official and unofficial transcripts. UCF does not offer unofficial transcripts. Some programs may initially accept unofficial copies for application purposes but will require official transcripts upon acceptance. Official transcripts bear the institution's seal and signature and are sent directly from the institution to the recipient.

Ordering Official UCF Transcripts

Current and former UCF students can order official transcripts online through Parchment. A $15.00 charge is required for each transcript ordered to cover the expense of the transcript and the servicer’s service charge, except for transcripts that will be picked up at the UCF main campus. The charge for a transcript to be picked up is $10. Payment must be submitted at the time of request.

Step-by-Step Guide to Ordering Transcripts Online

  1. Access Parchment: Visit the Parchment website and create an account or log in if you already have one.
  2. Search for UCF: Search for the University of Central Florida (UCF) as the institution from which you are requesting the transcript.
  3. Enter Recipient Information: Specify the recipient of the transcript, whether it's another educational institution, an employer, or yourself.
  4. Delivery Method: Choose your preferred delivery method:
    • Electronic PDF: PDF transcripts issued by UCF are considered official documents and are certified by a digital signature and special security characteristics. Before requesting PDF transcript delivery, you should verify that the recipient will accept an electronic transcript. The recipient will receive instructions on how to authenticate the official PDF transcript. Each transcript issued in PDF format has warnings that the document is intended for the recipient only. When requesting a transcript to be sent to Seminole State College or Valencia College, the system will default the delivery method to PDF format. It will be sent via EDI rather than as a PDF. If the requestor desires a paper transcript be sent, the option is available to do so. The recipient has 30 days to download your PDF transcript before it expires.
    • Paper Transcript via Mail: Paper transcripts ordered by noon EST will be printed and sent out the same day.
    • FedEx Delivery: When ordering transcripts online, you have the option to have FedEx deliver your transcript. The charge for a FedEx delivery is $50 ($15 for the transcript + $35 for FedEx).
    • Pick-Up: Transcripts can be requested to be picked up by the requestor from the Registrar’s Office. If you are requesting a transcript to be picked up, a photo ID must be presented at the time of pick-up. Transcripts can be picked up at our main office.
  5. Attachment (If Applicable): Transcripts that require a form be enclosed (e.g., LSAC, AMCAS, or PHARMCAS) must be requested with a PDF attachment copy of the necessary form included in the order. PDF is the only format myUCF will accept as attachments. If you wish to have your transcript notarized or processed for an Apostille stamp, please place your order with an attachment. The attachment should explain what you are requesting. Please note that the student is responsible for sending the notarized transcript directly to Tallahassee to complete the Apostille process.
  6. Payment: Submit payment for the transcript and any applicable delivery fees at the time of request.
  7. Review and Submit: Carefully review your order before submitting it to ensure all information is accurate.

Transcript Fee Waiver for Eligible Individuals

In accordance with Florida House Bill 171, UCF students or alumni who are active duty military, honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed Forces, or spouse or dependents are eligible for a transcript fee waiver. You must be confirmed as active duty military, honorably discharged veteran, spouse or dependent.

Cambridge AICE Transcripts

Students may request to have their Cambridge AICE transcript submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions through the Cambridge International Grade Transcript Service.

Processing Times

When sending a transcript through one of the above service providers, their system may indicate that it has been delivered; however, please allow two to three weeks for UCF Undergraduate Admissions to process these documents.

Important Considerations

  • Provide transcripts from every higher education institution you have attended, including dual enrollment.
  • Be aware that last-minute mishaps are possible. The Registrar’s Office at UCF is in charge of transcripts.
  • Pay attention to whether the program of interest wants paper or electronic copies of your transcripts.
  • We suggest contacting your school(s) individually to determine how they send transcripts.
