Exploring UCLA Housing Floor Plans: Finding Your Perfect Fit
Choosing the right housing is a crucial part of the college experience. Understanding the available floor plans at UCLA Housing is essential for students to find a comfortable and functional living space that suits their individual needs and preferences. UCLA offers a diverse range of housing options, from traditional residence halls to apartment-style living, each with unique layouts and amenities designed to enhance the student experience.
Residence Halls: Community and Convenience
The residence halls at UCLA typically feature double or triple occupancy bedrooms. These halls provide common areas for socializing and study lounges, fostering a sense of community among residents. While offering less privacy than apartments, residence halls are a great option for freshmen and students who enjoy a more communal living environment. These halls are designed with student life in mind, featuring ample storage and study areas to accommodate the busy lifestyles of college students.
Apartment-Style Housing: Independence and Privacy
For students seeking more independence, UCLA's apartment-style housing offers private bedrooms, kitchens, and living spaces. This option provides a greater sense of privacy and allows students to cook their own meals and manage their living space more independently. Apartment-style housing is often preferred by upperclassmen and graduate students who value a more self-sufficient living arrangement.
Key Considerations When Reviewing Floor Plans
When exploring the various floor plans, it's crucial to consider your personal priorities. Ask yourself:
- Do you need a quiet space for studying?
- Are you looking for a more social environment?
- How important is having a private kitchen and bathroom?
- What is your budget?
- How much storage space do you need?
Answering these questions will help you narrow down your options and choose a floor plan that aligns with your lifestyle and academic needs.

The Boulevard: A Modern Housing Option
In 2020, UCLA Housing, in a joint venture with UCLA Medical, acquired The Boulevard, a 5-building apartment complex located on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Los Angeles. This complex features a contemporary modern style with ground floor retail in the larger buildings.
Housing offers at The Boulevard are prioritized first to UCLA Medical's House Staff (medical residents, fellows, and interns), followed by medical graduate students, and then all other graduate students. Respective departments provide Housing Administration with a list of all new incoming House Staff in May, at which point accounts are created which will enable access to the housing application. If you are not able to access the application by June please contact housing services. Parking is included with the apartment.
Important Information for The Boulevard Residents
- Furnishings: Please bring minimal furnishings as the units are fully furnished.
- Pets: Be sure to inquire about the policy regarding pets or other animals.
- Note: The apartment interiors were staged for photo shoots and may not perfectly reflect the actual furniture provided in the units.
Additional Tips for Choosing Your Floor Plan
- Visit Model Rooms: If possible, take a tour of the different housing options and view model rooms to get a better sense of the space.
- Talk to Current Residents: Speak with students who currently live in the housing options you're considering to get their insights and perspectives.
- Review Online Resources: Explore the UCLA Housing website for detailed floor plans, virtual tours, and other helpful information.
- Consider Location: Think about the proximity of the housing to your classes, campus amenities, and public transportation.
