Premier Fitness and Recreation at the University of Central Florida

The University of Central Florida (UCF) provides its students, faculty, and staff with exceptional facilities and diverse programs aimed at promoting health, wellness, and recreation. From state-of-the-art fitness centers to outdoor adventure opportunities, UCF offers a comprehensive approach to well-being. If you attend UCF then you have a premier gym to your disposal and I highly recommend taking advantage of it. This place is amazing, supportive, and kind. All the bells and whistles of a full scale gym. They aren't perfect but they hit all the goal shots that every gym should strive for.

Recreation and Wellness Center (RWC)

The Recreation and Wellness Center (RWC) stands as a central hub for fitness and recreational activities on the UCF campus. This expansive facility offers a wide array of options to cater to diverse interests and fitness goals. The facility is super nice.

Cardio and Weight Training

The RWC boasts a 9,300 square foot cardio floor equipped with 150 cardio pieces. These include machines from top brands like Matrix, Star Trac, Precor, Woodway, Life Fitness, and Cybex. Users can choose from a variety of equipment such as recumbent and upright bikes, treadmills, rowing machines, total body ellipticals, lower body ellipticals, steppers, and arc trainers.

The weight floor, split into two areas, provides approximately 14,000 sq. ft. of space. The first area is primarily machine-based, while the second area is predominantly equipped with free weights, allowing guests to target any muscle group.

Group Exercise Studios and Classes

The group exercise studios host more than 90 classes offered weekly at the Recreation and Wellness Center. The main group exercise room is over 3,000 sq. ft. and hosts the majority of the group exercise classes. People can enjoy classes such as yoga, body sculpting and Zumba in this 3-sided mirror studio. The F45 Studio is more than 2,000 sq. ft. and is equipped with the latest technology including full audio, and a half-dozen video monitors to assist students during this functional training workout. The Cycle studio is about 1,400 sq. ft. and is the room designated for Cycle classes.

The MAC (Multipurpose Activity Courts) Gym is an area that has two courts enclosed with rounded walls. The walls are rounded to allow for different activities such as floor hockey and indoor soccer.

Climbing Tower

Housed within the RWC, the Climbing Tower offers premier indoor climbing for students at UCF.

Racquetball Courts

There are four racquetball courts that are located on the first floor of the Recreation and Wellness Center near the free weights area. Courts can be reserved by members and students as early as one day in advance by calling the RWC. When not reserved, courts are on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Additional Amenities

The athletic training room is designed to allow athletic trainers to evaluate students who may have suffered an injury or have a general question about sports medicine. The athletic training room is equipped with observation tables, first aid supplies and a cold whirlpool. The wet classroom is used in a wide range of ways. First aid and CPR classes are mostly taught in the space as well as serving as a classroom for lifeguard in-services and SCUBA classes.

Opened in August 2003, the Wayne Densch Sports Center serves as home to the UCF football program as well as the athletics department's main sports medicine facility and strength and conditioning centers. Located in the center of the building is the 11,200 square-foot strength and conditioning center. It features top-of-the-line free weight and machine equipment, cardio and treadmills by Woodway and a mix room that allows for better distribution of Cytosport muscle milk nutritional supplements.

Nicholson Fieldhouse
