GMAT Waiver

The GMAT may also be waived for applicants with a terminal graduate or professional degree and/or for those with extensive professional experience applying to pursue the Executive MBA.

Specific Program Requirements

Some graduate programs may have additional requirements. For example, the French and Francophone Studies committee does not consider writing samples produced using GAI (generative artificial intelligence). College of Education and Human Development

The College of Education and Human Development at UL Lafayette is dedicated to preparing reflective, competent, and socially responsive educators. National Accreditation was granted by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette College of Education and Human Development at the initial-licensure level. This current accreditation status is effective Fall 2019 through Fall 2024. The next site visit will take place in Spring 2024. Visual Arts Education

The program prepares you to be a reflective, competent, socially responsive educator and will provide you with informed, authentic, and meaningful experiences in visual arts.

Music Education

The instrumental music education concentration is open to students on any band or orchestra instrument. The vocal music education concentration is open to vocalists.

Early Childhood Education

Our Early Childhood Education Gr PK-3 program focuses on children's learning through play, based on the research and philosophy of Jean Piaget. This belief is centered on the "power of play." Play meets the physical, intellectual, language, emotional and social needs of children. It has been thought that children learn more efficiently and gain more knowledge through play-based activities such as dramatic play, art, and social games.

Middle School Education

Our Middle School Education Gr 4-8 program focuses on adolescent development and enables you to gain the knowledge and experience to work successfully with family members and the broader community. This program is designed to meet the Louisiana Department of Education requirements for certification in Middle School Education. We currently offer concentrations in English Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education, and Social Studies Education. You will have many hands-on opportunities to work with this age group and you will create lesson plans and apply them in a classroom setting.

Kinesiology

Our Kinesiology program offers several concentrations. The Exercise Science Pre-professional Studies concentration or Exercise Science Fitness Studies concentration combines clinical experiences and internships, and laboratory experiences to prepare you for a career in the health fitness industry or for even higher education to become a physical therapist, occupational therapist, chiropractic assistant, physician's assistant, or a physician. Ready to earn your degree anytime, anywhere? Make an impact in your community through the Health Promotion and Wellness concentration. Our Sport Management concentration is a broad-based, interdisciplinary concentration, which provides appropriate Kinesiology requirements as well as coursework in selected subject matter from related disciplines (e.g., communications, business, management, marketing, and public relations). Our Sport Management concentration is an interdisciplinary concentration focused on the business of sports with coursework in communications and business alongside kinesiology requirements. Additionally, Sport Management students are required to complete an internship in an area of career interest.

SLCC and UL Lafayette 2+2 Articulation Agreement

SLCC and UL Lafayette have partnered on a 2+2 articulation agreement. Under the 2+2 plan, students complete 60 credit hours during a two-year tenure at SLCC and earn an Associate of Science-Business. Those credits then transfer to UL Lafayette, where the student accrues another 60 hours over the remaining two-year period to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, which requires a minimum 120 hours to complete.
