University of Tampa Dorms: A Comprehensive Guide to On-Campus Living

The University of Tampa (UT) provides a variety of on-campus housing options designed to support students' academic and personal growth. With a focus on fostering community, collaboration, and a sense of belonging, UT's residence halls offer more than just a place to sleep. This guide will provide detailed information about UT dorms, including amenities, residence hall options, and essential information for both new and returning students.

General Information About UT Dorms

Prioritization and Room Types

While the University of Tampa makes every effort to accommodate all students who request housing, new UTampa students receive priority for on-campus residential assignments. Most new students are expected to share rooms with at least one other student, and may also be assigned to triple or quad rooms. Single rooms are mostly reserved for upper-class continuing students.

Amenities and Furnishings

All student rooms at the University of Tampa are air-conditioned. Cable television is included in room rates. Each room is furnished with a bed (36-by-80 inches), desk, chair, closet/wardrobe, and dresser. Students living on campus have free internet access through Wi-Fi and ethernet connections in their rooms.

Residence Life Staff

Area Coordinators are professional staff members in the Office of Residence Life who live in the residence halls and oversee the daily operations of the community. As live-in staff members, Area Coordinators are responsible for the development of communities that foster academic success. Resident Assistants (RAs) are live-in leaders, role models, and community builders.

Move-In Information

New Student Move-In begins on University-designated move-in days. All vendors and students must comply with traffic directives from campus officials, the visitor policy, and residential guest escort policies at all times.

Laundry Services

All campus laundry rooms are equipped with High-Efficiency (HE) washers and dryers free of charge. For best results, use HE detergent. Residence Life also partners with Tampa Laundry Company, a family-owned Tampa business known for its fresh approach to pick-up and delivery laundry services, to provide a hassle-free laundry service option to its students.

Microfridge Rentals

The Office of Residence Life partners with Campus Specialties Inc for an optional Microfridge rental program. Microfridge units are perfect for any room or suite and are equipped with a microwave, freezer, and refrigerator all in one attached unit. Roommates also have the option to share the Microfridge unit and split the cost. Before move in, Microfridges are delivered to student rooms and are picked up at the end of the school year, after students move out.

Storage Solutions

The Office of Residence Life is partnered with Collegeboxes, powered by U-Haul. Current on-campus residents can sign up with Collegeboxes for select dates every spring to drop off items on campus, which the company can store over the summer months. Incoming residents can also utilize the service to direct ship their items from home, including international locations as an affordable and convenient way for students to get their items shipped and delivered to school. The Collegeboxes program is the only UTampa-approved storage program that picks up storage items directly from students during move-out and provides in-room delivery before students return to school. Simply create an account on Collegeboxes.com to secure your service and order supplies.

Policies

In order to ensure a healthy working, living, and learning community, the University of Tampa campus is smoke and tobacco-free.

The following items, if found on campus, may be a violation of University policy and may result in a referral to Student Conduct or to the Office of Residence Life.
