It recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional performance in a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum, a genuine interest in UTulsa, active co-curricular involvement, and ambitious aspirations for the future. The scholarship seeks academically stellar students of diverse backgrounds and cultures and with varied interests who are engaged in their communities and will make a positive difference during their time at UTulsa and beyond. Benefits of the Presidential Scholarship

The Presidential Scholarship offers significant financial assistance, covering full tuition (excluding summers) for five years or until an undergraduate degree is earned. Presidential Scholarship recipients are awarded full tuition for eight semesters. In addition to financial support, Presidential Scholars will have a secured spot in Leadership TU led by President Brad Carson.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the Presidential Scholarship, applicants must meet specific academic criteria. Eligible students must have a 4.0 grade point average and must submit a separate application and resume when applying for the Presidential Scholarship. Applicants who have fewer than 30 college credit hours must have a superscore of 28 or higher on the ACT or 1300 or higher on the SAT. To be considered for the Presidential Scholarship, applicants must have a superscore of 28 or higher on the ACT or 1300 or higher on the SAT and meet one or more of the following eligibility requirements: College Board Recognition Program scholars who rank in the top 10 percent of their graduating class; rank in the top 5 percent of their graduating class; or have at least a 4.0 weighted GPA. If submitting an ACT score, scores from both the original and redesigned versions of the ACT may be accepted.

Application Process

The Presidential Scholarship application is an opportunity for the university to learn about your accomplishments, aspirations, and interest in TU in particular. Students must submit a separate application when applying for this scholarship. The application process involves several key steps:

Apply for Admission: Submit an application for admission to The University of Tulsa by February 1. Admitted students are automatically considered for a merit scholarship based on a full review of their comprehensive academic performance and completed UTulsa application. Applicants who submit a complete admission file after Feb. 1 are considered for merit scholarships based on available funding. No additional application is required for a merit scholarship.
Visit the Campus: Visit UTulsa’s campus via a Daily Visit, Tulsa Time, or other Office of Admission in-person official visit program.
Presidential Scholarship Application: Students must submit a separate application when applying for this scholarship. It is optional by students who may submit a link to a 45-second video with their Presidential Scholarship application. Students must showcase their unique personality, talents, and abilities. Show why they want to attend UTulsa and how they will fit into the university's close-knit community of scholars. Share how their personality and experience will contribute to our student body. Illustrate how they will make a positive difference during their time at UTulsa and beyond.
Meet with your UTulsa Admission Counselor: When you have a one-on-one counselor meeting (Talk with Tulsa or Next Steps Meeting), there will be time to discuss the process and answer your questions. Your admission counselor is here to help with any questions you have. While the counselors will be cheering you on and supporting you throughout the process, they are not involved in the final selection. Not sure who your counselor is?

Selection Criteria

The selection process for the Presidential Scholarship is highly competitive. This is a very competitive academic scholarship and the number of scholarships awarded changes yearly. Through the Presidential Scholarship selection process among a highly competitive applicant pool, the committee seeks to find academically stellar students of diverse backgrounds and cultures and with varied interests who are engaged in their communities and will make a positive difference during their time at UTulsa and beyond. The review committee for TU’s Presidential Scholarship is separate from the committees for each of TU’s Special Programs.

All Presidential Scholarship applicants (recipients and non-recipients) will be notified no later than April 1.

Maintaining the Scholarship

Scholarship recipients must maintain 15 hours of coursework per semester. Additionally, they are expected to attend university-sponsored special events and functions. Recipients will receive the scholarship for four years, contingent upon maintaining good academic standing.

National Merit Semifinalist Package: The University of Tulsa is pleased to award National Merit Semifinalists its highest academic scholarship, the National Merit Semifinalist Package.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Merit Scholarship: The University of Tulsa awards an International Baccalaureate (IB) Merit Scholarship of $3,000 per year for students who complete the full IB diploma with a high school grade point average of at least 3.0. This scholarship is awarded with full-time enrollment for eight semesters or until you earn your first degree, whichever comes first. TU will award an IB Merit Scholarship of $3,000 per year for IB students who complete the full IB diploma with a high school grade point average of at least 3.0.
Music Scholarships: Students majoring in music are eligible for a $4,000 scholarship. A limited number of full-tuition scholarships will be awarded to music majors. All scholarships will be awarded based on a School of Music audition. The deadline for auditioning for scholarship consideration is March 10.
Art Scholarships: Art scholarships are available to full-time, undergraduate students majoring in art. Students interested in applying for the scholarship must prepare a portfolio of artwork or writing samples to be submitted as part of their application. Students must complete the online application and submit their portfolio no later than March 1 prior to their first year on campus. Students must also take part in an interview with the director of the School of Art, either in person or on the phone; interviews will be scheduled by the chair.
Friends of Finance Scholarship: Friends of Finance Scholarship recipients are awarded $20,000 ($5,000 per year for four years) so long as they remain a finance major in the Collins College of Business.
Other Merit Scholarships: This scholarship is a partial tuition award based on students’ academic achievements in high school. Amount of this award: $10,000-20,000. Admitted students are automatically considered for a merit scholarship based on a full review of their comprehensive academic performance and completed UTulsa application.
TU Partner University Scholarship: This scholarship is a partial tuition award. Only eligible with partner universities.
Spirit Squad Scholarship: This is a $2,500 scholarship. Spirit squad members must maintain full-time enrollment and meet all expectations outlined by the athletic department.
Scholarships for International Students: higher education institutions’ commitment to providing a welcoming, safe and diverse environment to international students. TU is proud to support this initiative by offering two annual, renewable scholarships to undergraduate applicants. This scholarship covers 50% of tuition costs and is renewable for up to four years of study.
Transfer Student Scholarships: The University of Tulsa offers unique scholarships for transfer students.

University scholarships and grants, unless specifically stated, may be applied only toward tuition for full-time, first-degree-seeking students. University scholarships will be credited to the student’s account no earlier than the first day of class each semester.
