The Campus and its Environment

Nestled in the lush greenery of the Mulshi Valley, the campus of UWC Mahindra College, Pune, Maharashtra, spans over 175 acres. MUWCI is located in the Sahyadri Hills (Western Ghats), overlooking the Mulshi and Kolvan valleys. In 2012, UNESCO declared the Sahyadris Hills a biodiversity hotspot and world heritage site. The serene surroundings offer an ideal setting for academic and personal growth. The campus was designed by architect Christopher Charles Benninger, and is divided into a residential and an academic area.

Modern Facilities

The campus is equipped with modern classrooms, state-of-the-art science and computer labs, and a well-stocked library. Students benefit from world-class sports facilities, including a swimming pool, athletic tracks, and courts for various sports. The residential facilities are thoughtfully designed to provide comfort and security, fostering a sense of home for both Indian and international students. The residential side of campus is divided into communal clusters called "Wadas". The Wadas house between 40 and 60 students and 4-6 teachers and families. Students live in independent houses of eight students each, with communal courtyards.

Environmental Stewardship: Van Vihar Biodiversity Park & Reserve

MUWCI’s setting on a natural, forested hilltop promotes a deep respect for the environment and sustainability, instilling in students a love for the outdoors and an awareness of ecological stewardship. In 2006, the college launched the Van Vihar Biodiversity Park & Reserve to protect the ecosystems on campus and ensure that the college community and the surrounding wilderness coexist harmoniously. The Van Vihar Biodiversity Park & Reserve serves as a focus for reforestation and soil conservation efforts in the area.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Applying to MUWCI

The most common way to apply to a UWC school is through the National Committee System. For Indian citizens, residents, and PIO/OCI students, applications are submitted via the United World College Committee of India. The application process typically starts in August and is finalized by March. Candidates are shortlisted based on their potential to demonstrate UWC values and academic merit. Shortlisted candidates are invited to a selection camp held at the MUWCI campus near Pune. During the camp, various activities are conducted, including panel interviews, Group Discussions, Object-Presentation, and various written and computer-based tests.

Financial Support

As a UWC college, MUWCI is committed to drawing deserving students from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and ensuring that they have a chance to experience a UWC education. MUWCI offers robust financial aid to students who demonstrate financial need. Financial aid packages are based on factors such as family income and resources, and not on academic performance or merit. 85% of students are on some form of means-testing determined financial aid. Scholarships are provided through sources such as the UWC National Committee of India, MUWCI, the Mahindra Group, alumni, and donors. In addition to fees, students can anticipate costs for flights, project and travel week expenses, pocket money, and caution money. Some scholarships are available to help cover these costs for students in need as well.

MUWCI has been led by a series of dedicated Heads of College, each contributing to the institution's growth and development.

David Wilkinson: The founding Head of College, who moved to Pune at the inception of UWC Mahindra College in 1997.
Jonathan Long: Appointed as Head of College in 2009 and remained until 2011.
Pelham Lindfield Roberts: Joined in 2011 and served until 2018.
Soraya Sayed Hassen: Took on the role of Head of College in 2018.
Dr. Dale Taylor: Assumed the role of Head of College in July 2021.
