Chemical Hair Treatments

The chemical hair treatments category includes training on a variety of hair processes. Transforming a client’s natural hair texture can be both temporary and permanent. In this module, you’ll explore everything from permanent waves and relaxers to silk presses and spiral sets. Lessons are taught through a combination of classroom and hands-on experience.

Beyond Hair: Makeup, Skin, and Nails

Makeup Application

Many programs have an additional component of makeup application. A Cosmetology program will typically cover the basics of makeup to give you a solid foundation. The skin care module covers the essentials of facials, facial waxing, and makeup application. All states have a very basic introduction to makeup, focusing on color theory, product knowledge, and application techniques. You’ll learn how to properly use a variety of brushes such as angled brushes and the varieties of eye shadow brushes.

Nail Technology

To prepare cosmetology graduates for the professional workforce, instruction covers the essentials of shop management, sanitation and communication. The program also includes preparation for salon/spa entry through a salon/spa business segment, developing resumes, and interviewing skills. Students are also trained and prepared in licensing boards, applications, and evaluations.
