Understanding the Cambridge AICE Diploma Requirements
The Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Program offers a rigorous international pre-university curriculum and examination system which emphasizes the value of broad and balanced study for academically advanced students. It is part of Cambridge’s global education network, the world’s largest provider of K-12 international education, with programs in over 9,000 schools across 160 countries. Cambridge is renowned for its rigorous academic standards and high expectations. The AICE program is comparable to Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs, helping students gain university admission and equipping them with up to 45 college credit hours. One major advantage of the AICE program is the opportunity to earn the AICE Diploma, which is recognized by numerous universities across the United States.
AICE Curriculum and Graduation Requirements
Students following the AICE Curriculum for graduation purposes have different requirements than the standard 24 credit diploma requirements. Satisfying the AICE Curriculum for graduation requires that students complete a minimum number of AICE (college) level courses across a range of subjects. Completing the AICE Curriculum exempts students from having to take HOPE, Economics, Fine Arts, and the online course as part of their graduation requirements.
To maintain membership in the Cambridge AICE Program, students must take a minimum of five academic credits each year of high school, including AICE and Pre-AICE level courses as required. These courses and examinations are typically completed from freshman through senior year. In order to be on track toward completion of the AICE Diploma Award, you must complete the required AICE courses (completion of an AICE course includes sitting for the exam) and pass a minimum number of exams with at least one course and exam being from each of the defined subject areas and the Core. Florida’s public community colleges and universities award college credit for successfully passed exams.
Structure of the AICE Diploma
The Cambridge AICE Diploma is a group certificate which requires learners to study a compulsory core subject, Cambridge AS Level Global Perspectives & Research, with Cambridge AS and A Level subjects drawn from three curriculum areas: Mathematics and Science (Group 1), Languages (Group 2), and Arts and Humanities (Group 3). An optional fourth group is also available.
To achieve the Cambridge AICE Diploma, learners must achieve a minimum of seven credits (including Cambridge International AS Level Global Perspectives & Research) from subject groups 1, 2, and 3 (and optionally Group 4) to be awarded the Diploma. Learners must achieve at least one credit from each of Groups 1, 2, and 3. The remaining credits can come from any of the groups. A maximum of two credits can count from Group 4.

Grading and Points System
Cambridge International A Level subjects are graded from A* to E. Cambridge International AS Level subjects are graded from a to e. There is no A* grade awarded at Cambridge International AS Level.
The Cambridge AICE Diploma is awarded on a points system, so each grade is converted to a number of points. Learners who meet the requirements of the group award will receive a Cambridge AICE Diploma at one of three levels: Pass, Merit, or Distinction.
- Cambridge AICE Diploma with Distinction: awarded to students with a score of 360 points or above.
