Registration dates and times are determined based on the number of credit hours earned (not including in-progress credits). It is crucial to pay careful attention to your registration start time, as there are multiple start times. Please note, this is not an advisor appointment. You can register or make changes to your schedule any time on or after your specific registration date and time by clicking on the Register for Classes link found under the Academics tab in My.IllinoisState.edu.

Fall Semester 2025

Session Start / End Dates: August 25 - December 19, 2025
First Half (FH) Session: August 25 - October 17, 2025
Second Half (SH) Session: October 20 - December 19, 2025
Last day to cancel registration: Sunday, August 24, 2025. The instructor of the course must approve an audit.
Last day to add/swap a course without approvals of instructor and/or advisor: August 29, 2025
Last day to drop a course without a course withdrawal (W) appearing on the permanent record: August 29, 2025
Last day for Graduate Students to initiate registration for the semester without a late registration fee: Monday, September 8, 2025

Important Registration Procedures and Policies

Adding or Switching Courses

Beginning August 22, students will need a closed class override from the department offering the course to add or switch sections of a course. To register for a course after May 18, please fill out the Late Registration Request Form in My.IllinoisState.edu.

Winter Session

Illinois State University offers online accelerated Winter Session classes to students. To register for a Winter session course, current students must be in good academic standing (minimum 2.0 GPA). Students admitted for the preceding Fall term or upcoming Spring term qualify for Winter session enrollment. Students are limited to registering for one class per Winter session. There is no priority registration for Winter session. Credit hours taken during the Winter session will be applied to the spring semester's total academic load.
