Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! - A Comprehensive Guide to Climbing and Exploration in Summer Forest
Summer Forest, the first homeworld in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! and Spyro Reignited Trilogy, serves as a vibrant introduction to the land of Avalar. After completing Glimmer, Spyro arrives in this core world, a picturesque landscape of tall trees, flowing streams, and the first of Avalar’s castles. This guide provides a detailed walkthrough of Summer Forest, focusing on key locations, challenges, and the acquisition of gems and orbs.
Arrival and Initial Exploration
Spyro's journey begins on a glade near the passage leading to Glimmer. The initial task involves exploring the area and collecting the scattered crystals. Progressing through the passage leads to a destroyed bridge spanning a canyon. Jumping into the canyon allows for the collection of more crystals located at the bottom.
Meeting Hunter and Learning New Skills
After crossing the broken bridge, Spyro enters a large clearing. Heading right, he encounters Hunter, who offers a jumping tutorial. Completing this tutorial rewards Spyro with the first orb. Returning to the clearing, a vendor is present, offering underwater swimming lessons for 500 crystals. Gathering sufficient crystals to learn how to dive unlocks further exploration possibilities.
Underwater Exploration and Hidden Passages
Once Spyro learns to dive, he can return to the starting point and dive in the lake where he learned to dive. Swimming through an underwater tunnel leads to a section with locked doors, which can be opened by pressing a button. This area connects to Sunny Beach and Hurricos. A ladder leads to another orb and a passage to the interior of the castle.
Navigating the Castle Interior
The castle interior connects various areas, allowing for free exploration. Within the castle, Spyro can find passages to Ocean Speedway and Crush's Dungeon, as well as a route to the final clearing of Summer Forest.

Orb Locations and Challenges
Summer Forest contains four orbs, each requiring specific tasks or skills to obtain.
Orb 1
To get the first orb, you need to go to Idol Springs, you will saw a pond to the left. When you have learnt to swim underwater, dive in. You will find lots of gems scattered here and there. If you go directly north, you will see an opening. Swim towards it, and then swim up. You will land in a place, where you will find vases of gems. Charge into them and then go towards one of the guys from Idol springs. He will ask you to light up all the squares on that. There are 8 blocks. 4 of them are yellow and 4 are blank. Ok, now there are 3 blocks in the front row and 3 at the back row. Jump on the block in the front row towards the extreme right. Now, jump on the block in the back row, towards the extreme right. Jump on the block in the back row towards the left. The next challenge he will ask you to do is feed an idol 10 fish. That's outside the pool of water. Then he will be standing near those puzzle shaped like moons, stars and diamonds. They can be found near the steps of the place where you recieve the talisman.
Orb 2
The second orb is located where Ellora was first standing near the Glimmer portal. Diving into the large pool reveals a secret entrance. Climbing the stairs leads to the orb. Alternatively, go past the place where you recieve the Talisman, towards the left. Then you will see a place far off. Glide there and glide again, and you will see some Hula girls. Go and speak to the Hula girl who is tied up near the dancing Idol with the umbrella on his head. Speak to her. She will tell you to charge the hula girls pedestals, with the help of the super charge.
Orb 3
To reach the third orb, swim underwater and emerge on the other side. Proceed to the left door (if open) to find Ellora, who will open Ocean Speedway upon acquiring enough orbs. Ascending further and opening the door allows you to collect the gems. The doors operate on a switch mechanism, where opening one door closes the other. Looking out the window reveals a ledge. Glide to the other ledge to obtain the orb.
Orb 4
The fourth orb is located near the ladder where Ellora is standing, next to the Hurricos and Sunny Beach portals. Ellora mentions seeing something shiny up there. After defeating Crush and unlocking the ability to climb ladders in Autumn Plains, return to Summer Forest and climb the ladder to obtain the orb.

Idol Springs
Orb 1
Activate the spring power-up located near the Yeti. Jump forward (north) to find an opening. The professor is standing there with a black spirit. Flame the statues to hunt down the spirit. Flaming all 10 statues rewards you with an orb.
Orbs 2 & 3
After defeating the Yeti, go further up to find two windows. Jump on the one on the left to discover a secret path. Continue up, and Spyro will start ice skating. Jump up the step to find Brother Kipp. Speak to him, and he will challenge you to an ice hockey game against a goal keeper. Winning the game earns you an orb. Afterwards, play one-on-one against another player to earn another orb.
Sunny Beach
Sunny Beach is known as the sunniest beach around Summer Forest.
Orb 1
This orb is earned by rescuing all the boxes of turtles. Flame 11 enemies to activate the fire power-up. Flame the boxes to be returned to the turtle who asked you to save the turtles and you will get your orb. The last crate is located behind a door that opens when a button is pressed.

Hurricos
Orb 1
The factory glide is a little tough in the second part because you have to be a good glider to get there. You will pass one of those Electrotts, whose name is Watt. He'll give you an orb, and then the second part of the factory glide starts. You have to really watch those spinning things carefully because the first windmill is easy enough to jump on, because it's a little slow BUT the second one is faster. So time your jump correctly, and don't forget to press triangle to hover. Then you will have to glide onto the roofs of those tunnels and you will have to glide to a piece of land where there is a wooden windmill. Then go again and jump on the moving pedestals. You will finally reach another Electrott, whose name is Spike. Go into the factory room, flame or charge the button and you will get your orb!!!
Orb 2
This orb isn't as easy to find as the factory glide one. Which is just as tough. Ok, you know the place with the supercharge portal, right? Well, if you go towards the ledge, on the right, you will see a small step in front of a piece of land. It leads to a passageway. Glide there and you will see a very troubled Electrott, who is upset because the gear grinder thieves are stealing the lighting balls. Well, your mission is to flame 'em up and restore the lighting balls to their proper places. Not so tough, eh? WRONG! You have to flame 10 of the thieves, and then you'll get some piece, or else, every two seconds, you'll hear an alarm going off.
Aquaria Towers
Orbs 1 & 2
The location for all 3 orbs is where the talisman is being recieved. then swim up and you will see a little hole. Swim through it, and you will reach a whole new place (which you probably never guessed existed). if you swim around, you will see Hunter the cheetah and he will ask you to train his pet Manta Ray. Just say yes, and then you will be sitting on the Manta Ray's back. What do you have to do? Simple, just follow the Sea-horse who is forming the bubble rings, and go through them.
Orb 3
You will find a Sea-horse, who is called King Flippy. He will ask you to find all 6 of his children. Where you wondering what those tall building like things with numbers on them were when you first started the Aquaria Towers level? Well, they are the buildings in which the children are being held captive. Just free each one accordingly to their number, and then the building with the next number will open up.
