Navigating Scholarship Opportunities in Williamson County
Williamson County, Tennessee, offers a variety of scholarship opportunities for students pursuing higher education and specialized training. These scholarships aim to support academic achievement, encourage community involvement, and ease the financial burden of education. Education Freedom Scholarships
The Education Freedom Act, passed by the General Assembly, established statewide school choice and made investments in public education. Beginning May 15, families in Williamson County can apply for Education Freedom Scholarships. State Reps. Gino Bulso, R-Brentwood, Jake McCalmon, R-Franklin, and Lee Reeves, R-Franklin, are encouraging interested families in Williamson County to apply for Education Freedom Scholarships. All Tennessee students can apply for the program, which provides a $7,295 scholarship to attend a private school that will best fit a child’s needs.
The lawmakers said in a joint statement, “Williamson County is blessed with some of the best public schools in the state. At the same time, every child thrives in different environments. The freedom to choose a school that meets a child’s unique needs and talents is paramount to our state’s continued efforts to ensure parental rights in education. Education Freedom Scholarships will improve academic outcomes and better prepare Tennessee students by allowing parents to be in charge of their child’s learning.”
The Tennessee Department of Education (DOE) will administer 20,000 scholarships in the 2025-26 academic year. To be eligible, students must be residents of Tennessee, lawfully present in the United States, and meet specific age and academic criteria. All students must be five years old by Sept. 30, 2025, have spent no more than 13 years in school, and be entering grades K-12 to be eligible.
Applicants will need to provide two documents to prove Tennessee residency, along with either an Individual Income Tax Return, proof of eligibility for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, or proof of eligibility for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Scholarships will be awarded in the order the DOE receives completed applications.

Williamson Health Foundation Scholarships
The Williamson Health Foundation offers scholarships to local students pursuing degrees in healthcare-related fields. The Williamson Health Foundation scholarship program is designed to ease the financial burden of higher education for students committed to careers in medicine, nursing, allied health and other healthcare professions.
“We are proud to present five scholarship opportunities this year made possible through the generosity of our donors,” said Leigh Williams, Executive Director of the Williamson Health Foundation. Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic achievement, commitment to healthcare, community involvement and alignment with the Williamson Health Foundation’s mission.
Audrey Meguiar, recipient of the 2025 Craig Ferrell Memorial Scholarship, shared, “Receiving this scholarship turned what once felt like a distant dream into reality, allowing me to focus on my education and clinical training.”

W.C. Fair Board Scholarship Program
The W.C. Fair Board implemented a Scholarship Program in 2013. This program was established to show the youth of our county the value of being involved in their community. In memory and in honor of "Mr. Bill" Veevers, the Fair Board initiated an additional new scholarship in 2022 to be provided annually to the most outstanding applicant who exemplifies community service. Mr. Bill served as Facilities & Logistics Chair from the fairs return in 2005 until his passing in October after the August, 2021 fair.

Verne R. Citizen: or permanent resident enrolled in a course of study relating to a degree in nuclear science and technology.
Albert W. Applicant: must be a minority who is a full-time student entering the fall term of their final year of classroom work in a healthcare management graduate program. Applicant must be a student associate of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Applicant: must be a certified SCUBA diver between the ages of 21 and 24 (by March 1), have a good academic record, and pass a medical physical exam. Applicant should be interested in a career in an underwater field.
