Academic Support and Resources

Sullivan Library is a cornerstone of academic life at Chaminade, offering extensive support for curricular programs and extracurricular interests. The library houses special collections such as the Oceania Collection, the Catholic Authors Collection, the Julius J. Nodel Judaica Collection, and the David L. Carlson Japan Collection.

The Audio Visual Media Resource Center supports instructional media technology needs for various divisions, student activities, and special programs. While prioritizing classroom support, the center may provide materials for activities outside of class.

Network and Desktop Services (NDS) maintains the Chaminade network, providing access to local and wide-area technology. NDS also manages computer classrooms and a general-use computer lab for students, faculty, and staff.

Marianist Values and Campus Ministry

The Office of the Rector serves the Chaminade community from a Marianist perspective, fostering a family spirit. The Rector coordinates Marianist activities and advises the President and other University administrators.

The Campus Ministry Program promotes Catholic Marianist values through various programs and activities.

Business Office

The Business Office handles student financial transactions.

Students can pay for tuition, parking, transcripts, residence life room and board fees, and other miscellaneous fees at the Business Office window. Students may pick up their financial aid checks at this location.

Center for Lifelong Learning

The Center for Lifelong Learning connects Chaminade with the wider community, offering expertise and resources. Chaminade alumni can take undergraduate courses in their major field of study for half the tuition.

Security Office

Lost and found items can be turned in or retrieved at the Security Office.

Carlson Fitness Center

The Carlson Fitness Center offers a range of equipment for fitness enthusiasts.

Fitness Center Features:

Dining Options

Chaminade University offers two dining locations:

  • The P.O.D. (Provisions On Demand) at Henry Hall: Features hot self-service entrees for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as quick snacks and grab-and-go meals.
  • The Silversword, located in Tredtin Hall: The resident dining program features self-serve fresh salad and sandwich bar, as well as a hot entree line.

A variety of meal plans are available to our residents and an off -campus plan is also available to apartment and commuter students.

Facilities and Event Management

All setups must be requested through www.myschoolbuilding.com which can also be found on the web portal at the BOOKMARKS tab, under Work Orders and Setup Requests. All essential academic, enrollment, presidential, institutional advancement, etc. events that are integral to the functioning of the University will have priority over all other events. In fact, they may bump other events from time to time. All requests not in the essential category must have signed authorization from the department head. Facilities will keep the setup calendar for events.

Parking Regulations

To park a vehicle on campus, all vehicles (cars, trucks, motorcycles, mopeds) must be registered. Granting permission to park on campus should in no way be construed as making the Marianist Center of Hawaii, Chaminade University, St. Louis School or its employees liable for any damage or theft which may occur. If any vehicle or its parts or contents are damaged or stolen, the incident must be immediately reported to the Security Office, located in the Henry Hall Annex Building or call 735-4792.

To register a vehicle:

  1. Complete the Vehicle Registration Form.
  2. Provide the Vehicle Registration.

Upon presentation of the required documentation the vehicle will be registered and a parking permit issued. Faculty/Staff permits (static cling decal) must be located in lower corner of windshield.

Visitors’ passes may be issued to persons having appointments during regular business hours on campus.

Parking Areas:

  • Orange lines and curbs mark visitor parking. Faculty, staff and students are not authorized to park in this area.
  • Blue lines indicate reserved parking.
  • Kaminaka entrance is one-way only. It is not an exit. during the Fall and Spring semesters. It is closed on weekends and holidays.
  • All traffic must proceed in the designated direction.

The campus speed limit is 15 M.P.H. Upon notice of a violation, the violator will be given seven (7) working days to pay such fines. All imposed fines are over and beyond vehicle removal and storage charges, if any. Any person may appeal his/her citation. Appeals must be submitted in writing within three (3) working days after the alleged violation to the Director of Personnel.

Chaminade University is implementing a new policy for reserving on-campus parking stalls to ensure a more efficient, equitable, and consistent process. You may sign into the University SharePoint Portal and go to Resources, then Calendar Center. Under Parking Calendar, choose the location where you would like to reserve stalls. Stalls are available in front of Clarence T.C.

Golf Cart Policy

This policy provides guidelines for the use of electric or gas-powered golf carts on the Chaminade campus. All persons operating a golf cart must pass a cart safety road test administered by Environmental Safety Officer. Operators must not drive the carts while their judgment is impaired (e.g.

Cart operators are responsible for ignition keys for the period of time in which they are using the vehicle. Operators must park carts away from heavily traveled pedestrian areas. Carts should not block the path or limit pedestrian access on walkways. Carts should not be parked in restricted parking areas (e.g. Facilities is responsible for making repairs to the carts. The responsible Department is responsible to have their carts charged if battery operated and to ensure that the cart has gas and water if gas operated. The Director of Administrative Services is responsible for purchasing new and used carts.

Alcohol and Drug Policy

Chaminade University is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment.

University Expectations:

  1. Respect for oneself.
  2. Respect for others.
  3. Respect for property.

In accordance with Hawaii State Law, Chaminade University does not permit the purchase, possession, manufacturing, consumption, or furnishing of alcohol by persons under 21 years of age. Intentionally or knowingly providing alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21, or to persons obviously inebriated, is not permitted. This prohibition applies to faculty, staff, and students who are responsible for any University function on or off University property. Students and/or student organizations seeking permission to serve alcohol at a University sanctioned events on property owned or controlled by the University must review the “Campus Event Alcohol Policy” and complete the procedures requested by the policy. Student and/or organizational fees are not to be used to purchase alcohol.

Federal law mandates that students understand that alcohol consumption causes marked change in behavior. Low doses significantly impair the judgment and coordination required to drive a car safely. Low to moderate doses increase the incidence of a variety of aggressive acts, including date rape, spouse abuse, and child abuse. Moderate to high doses of alcohol cause marked impairments in higher mental functions, severely altering a person’s ability to learn and remember information.

The Controlled Substance Act (1970, amended 1984) and the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986 provide penalties for unlawful manufacturing, distribution, and dispensing of controlled substances. Suspected violations will constitute grounds for notification of civil authorities. Members of the Chaminade University community who violate federal and state alcohol and drug statutes or University policies as detailed in this Policy Manual on University owned or controlled property, or at University sponsored functions, are subject to institutional judicial process in addition to any criminal prosecutions by civil authority.

Financial Information

Students are encouraged to regularly check their account balance through the student self-service portal at www.chaminade.edu. It is the student’s responsibility to review their account before the start of each term to ensure that all financial obligations have been satisfied. If registering after the start of the term, financial clearance must be achieved at the time of registration. Enrollment during the add/drop period requires payment immediately.

You have 24/7 access to your account to view any outstanding balances and make payments via the Chaminade Self-Service portal. Financial clearance can be obtained by settling all semester charges through one or more of the following methods:

  • Payment in full of the net amount due
  • Enrollment in a tuition payment plan via student self-service portal at www.chaminade.edu
  • Financial aid awards and/or loans
  • Military Education Benefits
  • Tuition Waivers
  • Third-party payment

Any unpaid balances after the term ends may result in disenrolled from future classes. If you would like to be reinstated into those classes after being disenrolled, all tuition, fees, and any prior balance must be paid in full, along with the 100 dollar reinstatement fee.

The University will not impose any penalties--such as late fees, denial of access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities, or the requirement that a covered individual borrow additional funds, on any covered individual because of the individual’s inability to meet his or her financial obligations to the institution due to the delayed disbursement of a payment to be provided by the Secretary under chapter 31 or 33 of this title.

There are various ways to pay your bill.

  • Online: Payments can be made with any major credit card, debit card, electronic check, or supported 529 plan.
  • In Person: You may pay in person at the Chaminade business office located in Clarence T.C. to 4:30. Cash, check, or money order only.

Emergency Information

In the event of inclement weather, students are advised to check the local television and radio stations. Go to chaminade.edu to learn if classes are canceled or school is closed. If there is nothing on the web regarding a school closure, students are expected to attend classes unless the instructor has canceled a particular class.

Chaminade University of Honolulu is dedicated to providing students, faculty, staff, and visitors with a safe and secure campus environment. Our team members, led by the Director of Campus Safety (a full-time university employee), train constantly and maintain a close working relationship with local law enforcement and community leaders.

Chaminade Campus Security has jurisdiction over the campus. Officers are present 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Immediately report all crimes and incidents to the Campus Security staff. Students are encouraged to report all criminal activities to the Campus Security Office any hour of the day. Students in on-campus and off-campus housing facilities should dial 911 for all fire, ambulance, or police emergencies day or night, with a follow-up call to Campus Security.

The university’s Emergency Information Hotline is (808) 739-7499. This recorded phone line provides callers with up-to-date information and instructions during an emergency. A toll-free number for out-of-state parents/families is also available at (833) 739-7499.

Emergency Text Alerts: When you login to the Chaminade portal initially, you will be asked to provide some emergency contact information. If you provide a cellphone number, you will receive a text from our emergency notification system asking you to confirm your number. You must respond to that message to complete your registration and get emergency notifications on your phone.

All members of the Chaminade University campus community are notified on an annual basis that they are required to immediately notify Chaminade Campus Security, (808) 735-4792, or 911, of any situation or incident that may involve an emergency or dangerous situation.

Chaminade University of Honolulu has a multilayered emergency notification system to notify the campus community about an emergency or dangerous situation involving a threat to the health or safety of students, faculty, and staff on campus.

Chaminade University has an expectation that students, faculty, and staff will share information they have or receive about campus crime, disruptive community behavior, or incidents. A Chaminade Campus Incident Reporting Form is available online and is intended to convey information needed to track the University’s response to campus incidents being reported, as well as to assess the danger the incident represents to the community at large.
