Community Center Assistant/Learning Center Assistant (CCA/LCA)
These positions serve as valuable resources for residents, staff, and visitors in residential buildings. CCAs/LCAs provide support and information to create a welcoming and helpful environment. Located in University Park Apartments, The Spot is a tutoring center and academic hub where Spot Guides play an integral role in Residential Life. Guides foster a supportive learning environment, providing leadership, information, and resources to residents.
Student Housing Office Assistant
This position provides general office clerical support for the Student Housing Office, requiring a commitment to customer service and strong command of the English language. The position is open until filled, and applicants should complete the Application Online.
Conference Assistant (CA)
Conference Assistants play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of conference services. Responsibilities include preparing apartments for arrival and departure, assisting group coordinators, and providing excellent customer service. The CA is required to work one scheduled day per week on call from 8 pm-8 am and is required to carry a duty phone. The CA is required to attend staff training and one mandatory staff meeting every week. To be eligible, candidates must be CSUN students in good standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and available for employment from May 20, 2025, through August 23, 2025. Compensation includes a single room in a student housing apartment with a kitchen for answering the duty phone one night each week.
Conference Operations Coordinator (COC)
The COC will be scheduled to work 40 hours per week. The actual schedule will vary from week to week depending on conference group needs. To be eligible, candidates must be CSUN students in good standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and available for employment from May 20, 2025, through August 23, 2025. Compensation includes a single room in a Student Housing apartment with a kitchen for answering duty phone one night each week.

Group Exercise Instructor at the Student Recreation Center
The University Student Union (USU) is one of the largest employers of students on campus. If you have experience leading Group Exercise classes? Are you passionate in sharing your love for fitness and want to help the next generation to move better and more often? Then you should apply to be a Group Instructor at the Student Recreation Center! Positions are open year-round to any applicant (student or non-student) that meets the minimum qualifications. Those who qualify will be invited to attend a group audition in May and October (dependent upon when application is received). Pay is based on upon experience and qualifications. Reporting to the Fitness Programs Coordinator, develops fitness or wellness routines and programs for groups of participants with a variety of skills and abilities. Applicants that do not currently hold an American Red Cross certification are eligible for employment consideration; however, must become adult CPR, AED and first aid certified prior to instructing classes and no later than 30 days from hire date. Trainings are periodically offered, free of charge, to USU employees.
From Here to Career: Enhancing Your On-Campus Experience
CSUN's "From Here to Career" program aims to support students in their on-campus positions and equip them with valuable career readiness skills. The program also supports Staff and Faculty as they take on the Supervisor role for student assistants.
Program Components
The program includes several key components:
- Canvas Modules: Students complete 10 self-paced Canvas modules covering career fundamentals.
- Career Advising Session: Students participate in a one-on-one career advising session.
- Alumni Networking Events: Students attend two alumni networking events to learn from CSUN alumni who used their on-campus employment to help them pursue their career goals.
- Monthly Check-ins: Supervisors conduct 30-minute monthly check-ins with their student employee(s) to further discuss learning and development. Students discuss progress at monthly check-ins with their supervisor within the semester.
- Online Resources Engagement: The program encourages you to explore a variety of online resources.
- Skill Toolbox Access: Supervisors gain access to a toolbox of information and workshops.
- Career Center End-of-Year Celebration: A culminating event that celebrates students' and supervisors' engagement in the program. Participants receive their certificates and FHTC cords for successfully completing all program requirements.
Eligibility and Registration
Supervisors (CSUN Staff or Faculty) must complete the following registration form to enroll themselves and their student employees: FHTC Registration 25-26. Supervisors can only enroll a maximum of 3 student employees each semester they are directly supervising in order to ensure the quality of the monthly required supervisor check-ins. Each semester our program capacity is 50 student participants. Students cannot register themselves for the program. The required modules are done asynchronously and are self-paced to accommodate student employees' busy schedules (we estimate a 1-2 hour time commitment a month), along with events and advising sessions.
Cohort Dates
The Fall 2025 Cohort starts in early September and ends in early December. The Fall 2025 Cohort starts September 2nd and ends on December 10th. The Spring 2026 Cohort starts January 28th and ends on May 7th.

Important Considerations for International Students
International students (F-1 and J-1 visa holders) have specific guidelines to follow regarding on-campus employment:
- Part-time vs. Full-time: During academic semesters, international students can work on-campus for no more than 20 hours per week. During vacation periods (summer and winter), if eligible and intending to register for the next semester, they may work full-time (21 or more hours per week).
- Employment Type: On-campus employment generally includes student assistant positions, and teaching and graduate assistantships.
- Location: On-campus employment must be performed on the school's premises, including on-location commercial firms which provide services for students on campus, such as the school bookstore or cafeteria, or at an off-campus location that is educationally affiliated with the school.
- Required Documents: International students need to download the Verification of International Student Status Form from the IESC Forms and Process webpage and request an On-Campus Employment Verification Letter from the IESC. They must also submit a copy of their on-campus employment offer letter (including the Employer Identification Number) to the IESC.
- Social Security Number (SSN): International students will need to obtain an SSN. They can visit the SSA office and may receive a printout with their SSN within three days to a month.
- Maintaining Status: Students who fall out of status are not eligible to work on campus.
Additional Requirements
The University Student Union (USU) at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is proud to operate on the CSUN campus. As part of the campus community, the USU follows California State University (CSU) policy that requires all faculty, staff and students who are accessing campus facilities at any university location to be vaccinated against the virus that causes COVID-19. The policy does allow for medical or religious exemption from the vaccination requirement. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily.
