History and Founding
Great Lakes Christian College was founded as Great Lakes Bible College in 1949. The college was established at Rock Lake, near Vestaburg, Michigan, with an initial student body of 12. The driving force behind the college's establishment was a concern among men of God regarding the decline of Christian Churches/Churches of Christ in Michigan.
In 1951, the college acquired a nearby farm, transforming it into its first campus. Recognizing the advantages of an urban setting, the Trustees decided to relocate the campus to Lansing in 1958, occupying the Dodge Mansion for fourteen years. In 1970, the college purchased a forty-acre site on the west edge of Lansing, constructing the first buildings for use in 1972. Additional land was added later, and facilities have been constructed as needed. In 1992, the College changed its name to Great Lakes Christian College. In March 2008, GLCC dedicated its new multi-purpose facility, the Doty Center, named in honor of the late Dr. Brant Lee Doty.

Academics and Programs
Students at GLCC study for a bachelor's in theology concurrently with their selected major. The school's curriculum is based around its Bible/Theology major which all four-year students attain upon graduation; most pursue second majors as well. The college operates on a semester calendar and awards associate and bachelor’s degrees within the fields of religious studies, education, and music. A dual-degree program enables students to study business in conjunction with Davenport College of Business.
