Work-study provides a paycheck every two weeks, based on the number of hours worked. Because students receive pay directly, work-study does not credit their term bill.

Eligibility and Application

It is to a student’s advantage to demonstrate eligibility to work before starting to search for on campus employment. Only original, unexpired documents will be accepted for this purpose. These can be shown to staff in the Payroll Office in the basement of Smyth Hall, Room 40. Students should apply to as many departments as possible to increase the likelihood they will be offered a position. Some supervisors also hire students who simply ask if they have an opening.

Payroll Process

Students may have some questions relating to the payroll process. Exhibiting professional job behaviors is crucial for being successful in any job or professional role.
