UCF Knights Dominate No. 6 Florida Gators in Decisive Victory
ORLANDO - UCF baseball delivered a resounding performance on Tuesday night, defeating the No. 6 Florida Gators 13-3 at John Euliano Park. This victory marked the Knights' largest margin of victory over their in-state rivals, showcasing their offensive firepower and solid pitching.
Early Lead and Offensive Explosion
The Knights wasted no time asserting their dominance. As head coach Rich Wallace said, “You could feel it in the dugout,” instilling confidence in the team. In the bottom of the first inning, Andrew Williamson launched a two-run home run to the opposite field, immediately putting UCF ahead 2-0. Although Florida managed to tie the game in the subsequent inning, UCF quickly regained control and extended their lead.
The fourth, fifth, and sixth innings witnessed a significant offensive surge by UCF, resulting in a combined eight runs. The spurt commenced with an RBI single from Braden Calise in the bottom of the fourth. However, the most significant offensive outburst occurred in the sixth inning, where the team scored four runs. Dylan King initiated the scoring spree by drawing a bases-loaded walk, pushing a run across the plate.
Unanswered Runs and Stellar Hitting Performances
The Black and Gold demonstrated their relentless offensive capabilities by scoring 11 unanswered runs throughout the game. A total of seven players contributed to the 13 hits amassed by the team. Among them, four players recorded multiple hits, and six drove in at least one RBI.
Boedicker led the charge with an impressive 4-for-5 performance at the plate, including a triple, an RBI, and a run scored. Espinal also had a standout night, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, four runs batted in, and two runs scored. Ross contributed significantly with a 2-for-4 performance, driving in three RBIs and scoring a run.

Espinal expressed his satisfaction with his performance, stating, “It feels great. I’ve just been really trusting my process and routines."
Dominant Pitching Performance
Complementing the offensive fireworks was a stellar pitching performance by a quartet of UCF pitchers. Together, they limited the No. 6 team in the country to just two runs on seven hits while recording 10 strikeouts.
Dominic Castellano earned the win, improving his record to 2-0. Castellano entered the game in the top of the second inning and delivered 3.2 innings of scoreless relief, allowing only one hit and striking out three batters. Following Castellano, Alex Galvan provided excellent relief for the Knights, pitching 3.0 scoreless innings and surrendering just a single hit. Isaac Williams was then brought in to close the game, securing the victory for the Black and Gold.
