Academic Support and Enrichment

UMSL recognizes that academic success is paramount. To that end, the university provides a variety of resources to help students excel in their studies.

University Tutoring Center

The University Tutoring Center offers quality tutorial services designed to equip students with effective study skills, strategies, and resources. Partnering with faculty and staff, the center provides assistance in various subjects, fostering a deeper understanding of course material and improving academic performance.

Student Enrichment and Achievement (SEA)

Student Enrichment and Achievement (SEA) aims to assist students facing academic challenges with persistence and graduation at UMSL. Through dynamic and interactive approaches, SEA provides a variety of services including one-on-one success coaching and referrals to other academic support services on campus. Guided by the themes of Accountability, Support, and Achievement, SEA is committed to holistic student success including academic preparation, social integration, and personal development. Students assigned to work with a Success Coach in SEA can expect to develop individualized education plans, create short- and long-term goals for academic achievement, and connect to campus resources to support learning both in and outside of the classroom.

Disability Access Services (DAS)

Disability Access Services (DAS) assists students with disabilities in accessing UMSL programs and services. DAS ensures that all students have equal opportunities to participate in university life, regardless of their disability.

Electronic Textbook Resources

Students can access electronic textbook resources such as AutoAccess, Cengage, McGrawHill Connect, etc. These resources provide convenient and cost-effective access to required course materials, enhancing the learning experience.

Career Development and Professional Growth

UMSL is committed to helping students achieve their professional goals. The university offers a range of career-focused resources to assist students in exploring career options, developing job search skills, and connecting with potential employers.

Career Services

Degree-seeking students and recent graduates are eligible to receive a number of free services designed to help achieve professional goals, including resume assistance, mock interviews, and access to Handshake, an online database, with current internship and job opportunities. Services are available to help students with their career decision-making and the job search process. Students are encouraged to tap into individual appointments, workshops, employer and career events and job fairs.

Bridge Program

Since 1986, the nationally recognized Bridge Program provides unique and comprehensive college access services to middle and high school students and their parents. Bridge equips local students with academic enrichment, college planning, social and professional development competencies critical for the successful matriculation to college. Through comprehensive, year-round, college access services to local middle and high school students brings continues to serve area students by bulldozing barriers to college entry and paving the way for leaders of tomorrow.

Health and Wellness

UMSL prioritizes the health and well-being of its students, offering a variety of services to support their physical and mental health.

Counseling Services

Students can call for an appointment with a counselor to discuss a variety of concerns, including personal, psychological and crisis intervention. We also provide emergency services on a walk-in basis and consultation regarding students of concern for harm to self or others. The first counseling session is free and subsequent sessions are only $10 each.

University Health Services

Offers students a range of discounted services, including health screenings (i.e. blood pressure, HIV, TB, and cholesterol), immunizations (i.e. flu shots, hepatitis A&B, MMR, and meningitis), and treatment for minor injuries (i.e. colds, headaches, etc.).

University Eye Center

Students can take advantage of a number of discounted services including primary care, contact lenses, eye glasses, rehabilitative optometry, and eye health management. All registered students can receive a free comprehensive eye exam each year that they are a student. In addition to the University Eye Center, we operate two additional offices, one on Lindell in Midtown St. Louis (Lindell Eye Center) and one in East St.

Campus Life and Engagement

UMSL offers a vibrant campus life with numerous opportunities for students to get involved, connect with others, and enhance their overall college experience.

Millennium Student Center (MSC)

The Millennium Student Center (MSC), offers UMSL students a place to interact, engage and learn - we are the "living room" on campus. Students can grab a bite to eat in the Nosh, study in the Quiet Lounge, charge their personal devices at any of our five charging stations, or relax in the rotunda between classes.

Campus Recreation

Campus Recreation offers students recreational, fitness, and social enrichment opportunities.

Office of Student Involvement and University Program Board

The Office of Student Involvement and the University Program Board offer students discounted tickets to a variety of local events and attractions. Examples include: local sporting events, Fox Theatre performances, lecture series, and Six Flags.

Touhill Performing Arts Center

The Touhill is your home for the performing arts, featuring professional and student performances - everything from concerts to plays, ballet, modern dance, comedy, jazz and more. UMSL students have exclusive access to tickets for many of these outstanding events for $10 or less. Impress your date with a classy (and inexpensive) night out. Student Organizations

UMSL boasts a diverse range of student organizations catering to various interests and passions. Joining a student organization is a great way to meet new people, develop leadership skills, and make a difference on campus.

Athletics

Students with a valid campus ID receive free admission to all home athletic events, excluding conference and NCAA playoff matches.

Safety and Security

UMSL is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for its students.

University Police

The University Police offers students a number of free self defense trainings each year. Additionally, the University Police offer students police escorts on campus in the event they feel uncomfortable.

UMSL Guardian

The safety timer allows you to invite friends and family to monitor your travel on or off campus ensuring you get to their destination safely. During the timed trip, UMSL Guardian will share your approximate location and route with the selected guardian and they can follow along using GPS. Once you reach your destination your guardian will know you arrived safely.

Victim Advocacy

Victim Advocacy can provide information, advocacy and support to students and employees who may have been a victim of crime, violence, or abuse. These services are free and confidential.

UMSL Libraries

The University Libraries (Thomas Jefferson Library and St. Louis Mercantile Library) provide access to a vast collection of books, journals, and online resources. The libraries also offer study spaces, computer labs, and research assistance.

ITS HelpDesk

The ITS HelpDesk is here to assist students with all of their technology needs.

Lactation Rooms

The University of Missouri-St. Louis provides private lactation rooms on campus for students, faculty, and staff so as to support women balancing their work and study commitments with their needs as mothers of young children. Each campus location offers a clean and secure environment for women who need to pump or nurse while on campus.

UMSL Postal Services

UMSL Postal Services is a United States Postal Service Contract Unit and is open to the public. Postage stamps are also available for purchase. UMSL Postal Service is located on the North campus, near the Mark Twain entrance.

Triton Store and Triton Tech

The Triton Store is the campus provider of textbooks, spirit wear, academic supplies, convenience and snack items, study aids, test preparation and computer hardware and software. Triton Tech is housed in the Triton Store and is a great source for purchasing computers, computer-related items and software. The Triton Store offers other additional services; first class USPS stamps, incoming and outgoing fax services and much more. A wide variety of UMSL spirit wear and gifts, as well as, general school supplies are also available for purchase.

Social Worker

A social worker can meet with students to provide assistance in identifying and accessing community resources to address unmet needs as well as help with applying for government assistance programs. This office runs the Triton Pantry programs which provide food resources to students in need.

Veterans Center

The Veterans Center exists to assist veterans in their transition from military to campus life. The Veterans Center staff can answer questions veterans may have about their benefits, the school, veteran-specific job resources and more. We have a lounge for Veterans to gather, a quiet place to study or simply meet with your peers. The coffee is always brewing, there are four laptops connected to the internet and a microwave for your use as well. We are open every day, but our office is staffed by student veterans so personnel may not always be on duty.

Welcome Center

The Welcome Center serves as the University of Missouri-St. Louis provides information regarding all aspects of the campus to visitors, students, faculty, and staff.

Campus Shuttle

The University provides students, faculty, staff, and visitors free access to campus shuttle services.

Metro Pass Program

The University of Missouri-Saint Louis is proud to partner with Metro, the regional agency that provides public transportation services, to offer our student, faculty and staff with access to Metrolink and Metrobus at a discounted rate. The Metro Pass Program provides members of our campus community with unlimited access to Metro services during the fall, spring and summer semesters.

New Student Programs

New Student Programs offers all new students and families the opportunity to transition to UMSL, through orientation, extended orientation, and family and parent programming opportunities throughout the year.

Student Financial Services Notary

Student Financial Services has three notaries on staff.

Bank Services

Bank, students are offered free checking, mobile banking, debit cards and bill pay service.

Peer Advisors

Peer Advisors will participate in recruitment events and share their experiences as an Exploring student with prospective students and their families in addition to educating prospective and current students about the resources available to exploring students. Peer Advisors will hold regular peer advising office hours each week during the academic term. Peer Advisors will be expected to participate in staffing recruitment events and attend weekly team meetings. Peer Advisors may also assist with the planning and execution of Discovery Center community events. Students who are currently or have previously been an Exploring student in the Discovery Center are eligible to apply. Students must have completed a minimum on 12 credit hours at the University of Missouri and be in good standing.
