Navigating the University of New Haven Student Portal: A Comprehensive Guide
The University of New Haven provides a comprehensive student portal designed to streamline access to essential campus services and information. This article will explore the key features and functionalities of the student portal, specifically focusing on the Campus Card and related resources.
The University of New Haven Campus Card: Your All-in-One ID
All students, faculty, and staff are issued a University of New Haven Campus Card, serving as a vital component of campus life. All students are required to have a current Campus Card and must keep the card with them when on campus to identify themselves as a member of the University community. The card includes the following features: picture ID, 16-digit ISO number, proximity chip, access to online and in-house University of New Haven library services, and optional paid access to dining, vending, and third-party vendor services. Some events may require ID to be displayed to gain entry. Once issued, the card is valid for 4 years or until you leave the University.
Obtaining and Maintaining Your Campus Card
As a new student or employee, one of the first steps is to obtain your Campus Card. A crucial part of this process is submitting your photo. All students and employees are required to upload a picture using the steps detailed at the top of this page.
Replacement of Campus Card
Your first card is issued at no charge; however, if lost or damaged (this includes cards damaged by hole-punching) there is a card replacement cost of $20. Lost or damaged cards will be replaced by the Campus Card Office in Bergami Hall room 143. The card office accepts Visa, Master card, Discover, Diners Club, and Apple pay. You can make lost/damaged card payment using Credit/Debit Card to pay for a replacement card.
It's important to protect your Campus Card as if it were a debit card. If you lose secure possession of the card, mark it as lost immediately through the eAccounts app. The University is not responsible for funds lost due to your card. If the card is lost, login to the eAccounts module or report the loss to the Campus Card office during business hours at 203.932.7062.

If your card is not working (door access or swiping at retail locations), you should stop by the office. Cards which are not damaged but are no longer working properly will be replaced free of charge if they are in good condition.
If you lose your card, it is important to lock it as soon as possible.
Charger Cash: Your Digital Wallet on Campus
Charger Cash is a pre-paid declining balance account accessed through your Campus Card. What is Charger Cash used for? Charger Cash is the primary fund for Vending, purchases made at Student Technical Support, and all 3rd party vendors, including the Campus Bookstore.
Adding Funds to Charger Cash
There are three ways to add money to the Charger Cash account on your card. (This account works at all locations that take the card, including Dining Services.) You may add money to your card online. You must log in eAccounts (we recommend using the mobile app (info found on our support site)) to use this method and pay with a credit or debit card (Visa/MasterCard). Individuals providing support to students can also make guest deposits this way. Deposits may also be made by check to the Bursar's Office.
Charger Cash and Printing Funds
While you cannot directly add money to printing funds, your Charger Cash balance will be used as a backup once you have run out. The University provides you with printing funds every semester that do not roll over.

Network Access
All registered students receive a University of New Haven network account. For example, first-year student John Smith registering in the Fall of 2020 has the network account name jsmit1. Conflicting names will be assigned a sequentially higher number that will follow the last name instead of 1. However, other network-based resources will no longer be available upon graduation or leaving school. The network account allows students to log in to any of the computers on campus (e.g., the Computer Labs) as well as gain access to other network resources (e.g., accessing Library resources). This login is the same username and password you use to login to other systems (such as Canvas or myCharger). The network account will allow students to log in to Canvas. Specific instructions on logging into Canvas are provided in the student account letter sent to every student. Specific instructions on logging into Canvas are provided in the account letter provided to each student.
Wireless networking is provided in almost every area of the University and continues to expand. Students may connect to the wireless network with their University of New Haven network account.
The Office of Information Technology will always make its best effort to notify students before any changes to network access are made. All users of the University network are required to have antivirus protection on their computer.
