Wizards of the Coast also works with non-collegiate students enrolled in job transition programs. Based on the program, Wizards typically offers a six-month apprenticeship which can track towards a full-time employment offer. Internship Structure and Benefits
The Wizards of the Coast Internship Program runs for 11 weeks, offering college and university students valuable work experiences and insights into some of the company's most exciting products. Interns engage with Wizards’ beloved brands, gaining meaningful work-experience through day-to-day training, hands-on projects, executive exposure, individual development planning, and mentorship. And yes, Wizards even has a Dragon!
The program runs between June 9 and August 22, 2025. Wizards internships are paid.

Intern-Narrative Design Role: A Closer Look
One example of an internship role is the Intern-Narrative Design position. This role involves working closely with the Worldbuilding Team on a variety of projects and products. The intern will assist in the creation and curation of art concepts and other worldbuilding collateral, collaborate on ideation sessions, and hone presentation skills to contribute to worldbuilding efforts.
The Worldbuilding creative team believes diversity of experience is fundamental to creating broadly accessible and fun experiences and games for all of its players. They encourage everyone to consider being a part of their team.
Responsibilities of the Intern-Narrative Design
The Intern-Narrative Design will:
- Shadow the Narrative Lead and contribute to worldbuilding and narrative efforts.
- Coordinate with set Creative Leads to support the realization of creative goals in art briefs and final illustrations.
- Assist in the creation of art briefs.
- Participate in worldbuilding and game design brainstorms, share insights to team discussions, and address delegated tasks from Creative Leads.
- Write card names and flavor text.
- Participate in studio-wide playtests.
What the Intern Should Bring
Candidates for the Intern-Narrative Design role should possess the following qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited, degree-seeking program pursuing a major in Creative Writing, English Literature, Game Design/ Interactive Media, or equivalent major with at least one quarter or semester left after August 2025.
- Available to work full-time hours for 11 weeks.
- Proactive communication and organization skills.
- A deep love for media, pop culture, sci-fi, fantasy, and fiction.
- A bias toward action and eagerness to iterate on ideas collaboratively.
- A developed perspective on inclusive storytelling.
- Knowledge of TCGs/Magic: The Gathering rules and gameplay.
Compensation
The starting pay range for the Intern-Narrative Design role is $26/Hr to $29/Hr (USD).
